$3.9 state grant, 40R housing discussed by council

NORTH ATTLEBORO: If you’ve ever been stuck at the traffic lights at the intersection of Routes 106 and 152, you’ll be happy to hear that the state awarded $3.9 million for improvements to the Plainville intersection and a portion of Kelley Boulevard south on Route 152 to George Leven Drive in North Attleboro.

The meeting of the two state roads has been identified as one of the most dangerous intersections in southeastern Massachusetts according to the Southeastern Regional Planning and Economic Development District.

North Attleboro Town Manager Michael Borg spoke to North TV Monday afternoon before making an official announcement during that evening’s town council meeting.

The Route 106 and 152 intersection will certainly see more traffic if 40R housing proposed for the land where the Stix golf driving range is currently located off of Kelley Boulevard.

The smart growth overlay district zoning bylaw was one of the last items on the agenda during Monday night’s town council meeting.
