BOH gives town manager mandate authority

NORTH ATTLEBORO - Masks will have to be worn inside school buildings when public school students and staff return to the classroom over the next two weeks.

Massachusetts Education Commissioner Jeff Riley issued the regulations one day after the state’s Board of Elementary and Secondary Education gave him the authority to issue a mandate.

Masks will be required when students and staff are indoors, except when they’re eating, drinking or during mask breaks.

Schools with a vaccination rate of 80 percent for students and staff as of October 1 would no longer be subject to the mandate.

In addition, the board of health Tuesday night gave Town Manager Michael Borg the authority to issue a mask mandate for all town buildings.
