Plainville selectmen candidates debate on North TV

PLAINVILLE - North TV’s election coverage kicked off Wednesday night when Plainville selectman incumbent Stanley Widak Jr. debated challenger Christopher Desprez at Plainville Town Hall. The two men are seeking the lone three-year seat on the board.

Sun Chronicle columnist Bill Gouveia asked the two candidates why the town is in the need of an override of the Proposition 2 1/2 limiting law and how they would make sure another would not be as necessary in the future.

Fellow panelist and town moderator Luke Travis followed up by asking how the two men will vote on the question.

Voters will decide the winner in the town’s only contested race on Monday.

Polls will open at 10 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. this Monday, June 29. Due to the coronavirus, all precincts will cast ballots in the public safety building at 194 South Street, behind town hall and the library. North TV’s live election results special will be cablecast that night at 8:30 on our Plainville Channel: Comcast channel 8.
