PLAINVILLE - Steve Albert will be joining the town's select board the next time the three-member board meets.
The current chair of the town’s school committee topped the three-man field in Monday’s annual town election.
Albert finished with 296 votes, housing authority member Andrew LaBerge was next with 254, while planning board member and former selectman Stanley Widak was one vote back at 253.
The three candidates were at town hall when the results were announced and then joined the North TV panel to discuss the election and what lies ahead.

Albert will be able to serve on both committees until the state approves changes to the town charter.
The new select board will meet Monday, April 13 at 6:30 p.m. on North TV's Plainville Channel: Comcast channel 8.
