BOSTON - North Attleboro and Plainville both posted higher COVID-19 cases over the two-week period ending Wednesday.
The rise in cases were not enough to push North Attleboro out of the yellow category designated by the state to measure risk. Towns with a population between 10,000 and 50,000 that have more than 10 average cases or a positivity of 5 percent or higher are designated as yellow.
The town’s incidence rate per 100,000 residents for the two-week period ending Wednesday was 19.3, up from 18.8 last week. The percent positivity was also up, to 3.34 percent, from the 3.03 percent in last week’s report.
Plainville is in the red for a second straight week.
The average daily incidence rate rose to 22.5, up from 21.7 last week. The positivity rate is now at 3.67 percent, down slightly from 3.69 percent last week.
Towns with a population of less than 10,000 residents are designated as red if there were 25 or more total cases. Plainville had 29.
North Attleboro will once again be able to conduct business at town hall without, first, having to make an appointment.
Town Manager Michael Borg has authorized the center of town business to once again open this Monday, March 15.
Face masks will still be required at all times and visitors are asked to stay six feet apart from others.
The town's Public Health Director and Nurse Anne Marie Fleming spoke to North TV on Thursday about reopening town hall, the number of reported cases and vaccinations.
