NORTH ATTLEBORO - Prepare to roll up your sleeve if you live in town and are age 75 or older.
The town's health department will start vaccinations as early as Wednesday, February 18.
The announcement was made in a press release this week and asks qualified residents to join a waiting list to receive the Vaccination Clinic Link or receive registration assistance.
Residents should call the North Attleboro council on aging at 508-699-0121 or 508-699-0131.
Director and Public Health Nurse Anne Marie Fleming provided the details in an interview with North TV on Thursday.
Later that afternoon, state health officials released COVID statistics for the past two weeks.
For the first time in recent memory, North Attleboro is listed in the yellow – and not the red – in the Average Daily Incidence Rate and Percent Positivity.
The town’s incidence rate per 100,000 residents for the two-week period ending Wednesday was 29.9, down from 39.1 last week. It was at 52.3 a month ago.
The percent positivity was also down to 4.53 percent, from 5.24 last week. It was at 8.97 a month ago.
Towns with a population between 10 and 50 thousand people are in the yellow if they have more than 10 average cases per day per 100,000 residents or a positivity rate above 5 percent.
Plainville’s numbers are actually lower than North Attleboro’s, but the town is still listed in the red – considered high risk.
The average daily incidence rate dropped to 22.5, down from 30.2 last week. It was at 56.6 four weeks back.
The positivity rate is now at 3.48 percent, down from 3.97 last week.
Towns with a population of less than 10,000 people are in the red if they have more than 25 total cases.
