NORTH ATTLEBORO - There will be big shoes to fill in town hall when the new fiscal year begins.
Assistant town manager Michael Gallagher announced recently that he will be retiring on June 30.
"It's time to move on, I had actually planned last year to make that decision but COVID put a little bit of a strain on the decision," Gallagher told North TV on Tuesday.
The former Weymouth deputy mayor was hired as town administrator in 2015 and served during a crucial time in the evolution of North Attleboro's government.
A third attempt at a Proposition 2 1/2 override passed in 2018 and the town moved from a selectmen/RTM form of government to the current town manager and council a year later, all under Gallagher's watch.
A special edition of "Insider Government" featuring Gallagher will premiere in the weeks leading up to his retirement on June 30.
