NORTH ATTLEBORO - State Rep. Betty Poirier's efforts to help restaurants in her district will benefit similar businesses across the Commonwealth.
House Bill 4767, An Act Addressing Challenges Faced by Food and Beverage Establishments Resulting from the COVID-19 Pandemic passed by a unanimous 156-0 vote on June 3.
The Senate passed the bill and Gov. Charlie Baker signed an emergency preamble over the weekend.
The act allows restaurants who do not have licenses for outdoor liquor sales to do so for the duration of the governor's state of emergency or February 28, 2021, whichever is later.
Cities and towns needed to approve revisions to the licenses they issue.
North Attleboro's licensing board passed a motion Wednesday night (June 10) allowing restaurants to serve alcohol outside of the establishments.
