NORTH ATTLEBORO - A black box theater will soon occupy space on the third floor of the Emerald Square Mall.
Members of North Attleboro’s zoning board of appeals approved a special permit to New England Public Theatre of Sharon to convert a vacant storefront into a small theater.
Jonathan Mael, of Sharon, heads up the new non-profit organization.
The space once housed American Eagle Outfitters near Macy’s at the south end of the mall.
In addition to live performing arts, Mael plans to offer theater classes.
