NORTH ATTLEBORO - The town council will address a hot topic Monday night during their meeting in the JoAnn Cathcart conference room in the basement at town hall.
The council’s bylaw subcommittee will hold a public hearing on Flock cameras.
The hearing follows an appearance by Police Chief Richard McQuade at the council’s September 14 meeting to discuss the automate license readers.
Town Manager Michael Borg announced earlier this month a pause on the installation of new cameras and a reduction in the time date is kept.
The move was similar to one made by Rhode Island Governor Dan McKee when he directed the Rhode Island State Police and the Department of Public Safety to do the same by halting new camera installations and activations for 60 days while safeguards are studied and leaders can establish statewide guidelines.
Municipalities across the state were urged to follow the same pause.
More than 30 Massachusetts communities have canceled, suspended or rejected contracts for the controversial automated license plate readers.
