PLAINVILLE - North TV News has reported on hundreds of events of interest to residents since expanding into the town seven years ago, so it wasn't easy picking the two stories that have impacted the town and it citizens the most since the North TV staff started covering the town.
Failed overrides
The second biggest Plainville story covered by North TV was the second attempt at an override to help the town get out of a difficult financial position.
North TV was live at Plainville town hall when the results of the ballot question were announced and interviewed a number of town officials about the ramifications of the vote.

Thermo Fisher moves to town
There’s no question the addition of Plainville Park Casino made a major impact on the town. The new town hall and public safety building are physical proof of the positive impact it has had on the town, but that was before North TV started covering the town and is, therefore, not included in our list.
Not only that, but town officials were still in a difficult financial position after the construction of those buildings while trying to balance their operating budget after two failed override attempts in less than a year.
That all changed, however, when Thermo Fisher moved into town less than a mile from town hall, bringing in added revenue in the form of new growth.
While North TV was not invited to the ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony, we did cover the planning board meeting the following week when officials from Thermo Fisher appeared before the board to review final construction.
