Cathcart gives up council seat

NORTH ATTLEBORO - The town council met Monday night for the first time since the start of the new fiscal year.

The session started with Council President Justin Pare announcing the resignation of JoAnn Cathcart.

The 73-year-old lifelong town resident was part of the first council. She and eight other councilors were elected a couple of months after voters approved the town charter and replaced the selectmen and town meeting form of a government with a town manager and council.

Dan Donovan, who finished 10th in last April’s election, replaced Cathcart per the town charter.
