NORTH ATTLEBORO - It appears COVID is rallying in time for Christmas gatherings.
The percentage of people testing positive for COVID went up again this week according to data released Thursday by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health for the two-week period ending Wednesday.
North Attleboro recorded its sixth straight week of increased positivity rates after 11 straight weeks of declines.
The positivity rate was 9.24 percent of the 3,170 tests performed over the last two weeks. The number was 8:05 percent last week, the highest rate in the area. That was up from the 6.99 posted two weeks ago, 5.47 percent three weeks back and only 3.68 four weeks ago.
Statewide, the positivity rate was 4.97, up from last week’s 3.60, but still almost half of the rate reported in North Attleboro.
The town's board of health met Wednesday night and received an update from Director and Public Health Nurse Anne Marie Fleming.
