PLAINVILLE - A two-alarm fire destroyed the clubhouse at the Hockomock Area YMCA Family Pool Club at Park Terrace on Saturday.
The local Y purchased the former Park Terrace Swim Club at 5 Berry Street off of Route 1A over the winter with an opening planned for next month.
Firefighters responded to a call late Saturday afternoon and put a call for mutual aid shortly after.
It took approximately 90 minutes to put out the fire.
North TV spoke to the Hockomock Area YMCA’s Chief Executive Officer Jim Downs about the damage and plans to rebuild on Thursday.
The Plainville Fire Department, the State Police Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit and the State Fire Marshall’s Office are looking into the origin of the fire.
