Fuel for the weekend finds an "alternative" home

NORTH ATTLEBORO - The closing of the town's public schools hasn't deterred a dedicated group of volunteers from providing food for families in need.

The Fuel for the Weekend program was launched last year after staff at the Community School identified students in need of healthy meals while away from school; students receive breakfast and lunch when in school.

The program normally operates out of the Community and Fall schools, but were forced to find a new home when Massachusetts' Gov. Charlie Baker ordered schools closed last month.

Caitlin O'Donnell, one of the program's volunteers, offered space in the Alternative Market she operates on North Washington Street.
