NORTH ATTLEBORO - The Public Works Water Division will begin flushing fire hydrants Monday, a program that is expected to last about 10 weeks.
Our partners at The Sun Chronicle reported in Friday’s edition the work is scheduled to start at 10 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays.
Flushing will begin in the Ellis Avenue area and proceed through the Hickory Road/John C. Porter area. The schedule is dependent on weather conditions.
The work is being performed to maintain water quality throughout the water system, the DPW said.
There may be minor discoloration of water in the areas where flushing is taking place, and residents should refrain from doing laundry if that is observed.
If residents experience discoloration, they are advised to run cold water until the water clears. That may take several minutes.
While flushing operations are taking place, there may also be pressure fluctuations in adjacent neighborhoods, the DPW said.
