Low turnout for Monday's Plainville election

PLAINVILLE - The local election season ended Monday at the town's public safety building.

The lack of any contested races resulted in only 183 residents going to the polls.

Brian Kelly will serve another three years on the select board after receiving 160 votes.

Patricia Bergevine will be back on the board of assessors for three years with 165 votes.

Louis Leblanc received 161 votes in seeking his three-year seat on the board of health, while Donald Fairbanks won the two-year seat with 160 votes.

Alex Kenney mounted a write-in campaign for a five-year term on the housing authority; his 16 votes was more than all others.

Dana Cooper won the 4-year seat on the housing authority with three write-in votes.

Denise Nado received more votes than any other candidate with 167 votes to return to the board of library trustees for three years.

Christopher Faille will serve three years on the park commission with 166 votes.

Steven Albert and Justin Alexander are returning to the Plainville school committee for another two years after receiving 154 and 152 votes, respectively.

Alexander was also re-elected to a five-year seat on the planning board with 165 votes.

The area’s next election will be held on June 3rd when North Attleboro residents will decide whether or not to build a new high school with an estimated price tag of $290 million.
