Outdoor dining to remain in downtown

NORTH ATTLEBORO - The song "Baby it's cold outside" will soon be playing through Christmas day but won't describe dining in the downtown this winter if the weather cooperates,

 

Town restaurants will get assistance surviving through the cold weather months thanks to a state grant the town applied for and received recently.

 

North Attleboro was awarded $28,984 as part of the state’s Shared Streets & Spaces program. The grants are intended to provide technical and funding assistance to help Massachusetts cities and towns conceive, design, and implement tactical changes to curbs, streets, on-street parking spaces and off-street parking lots in support of public health, safe mobility and renewed commerce.

 

Fencing, jersey barriers and heat lamps will soon appear on North Washington Street as a result.

 

The Shared Streets & Spaces program has awarded $10.2 million in grants to fund 124 projects in 103 municipalities across the state.
