Murray powers KP, earns POTW honors

PLAINVILLE - It was a quiet week for North TV sports crew.

We only had two games scheduled and one of those games, Friday’s Stoughton at North softball game, was rained out.

That left us with only one game, Wednesday’s Canton at King Philip softball game.

The Warriors beat up on the visiting Bulldogs 16-0 in a game called in the fifth inning.

King Philip starting pitcher McCoy Walsh worked only two innings, striking out all six batters she faced. That last strikeout was the 500th of her career.

Our Player of the Week accounted for seven of the Warriors' 16 runs.

Freshman Cheyenne Murray, number-5, went 2-for-3 with a triple and a 3-run homer, the first of her career.

The third baseman knocked in four runs and scored three times to earn our Player of the Week.

Cheyenne will receive a copy of win over Canton on a USB drive and a Player of the Week t-shirt in King Philip gold.

We’ll announce our Player of the Week for this week next week at this time.
