North man arraigned on fentanyl charges

ATTLEBORO - A North Attleboro man pleaded innocent Wednesday to fentanyl trafficking and two other charges stemming from a raid at his home two months ago.

Our partners at The Sun Chronicle reported Justin E. Ortiz, 33, of 259 West St., Apt. 2, appeared in Attleboro District Court on a summons and was released on personal recognizance after arraignment.

Ortiz is due back in court Oct. 29 for a probable cause hearing.

David Linton reported in Thursday’s edition of the paper North Attleboro police assisted federal Drug Enforcement Administration agents in executing a search warrant about 5:15 a.m. on Aug. 2 after an investigation into the defendant’s alleged drug distribution, according to a police report.

Police say they seized 154 grams of suspected fentanyl and a small amount of alleged cocaine, 38 rounds of .45 caliber ammunition and $1,159 cash, according to court records.

In addition to fentanyl, Ortiz faces charges of possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and unlawful possession of ammunition.

Seekonk police officers and a K9 unit assisted authorities with the search and investigation.
