NORTH ATTLEBORO & PLAINVILLE - COVID numbers in the two towns North TV serves continue to soar with more than one in for people tested having the virus.
North Attleboro recorded its tenth straight week of increased positivity rates after 11 weeks of declining numbers.
The rate was 25.98 percent of the 3,480 tests performed over the last two weeks. The number was 19.73 percent last week, 11.86 two weeks ago, 10.36 percent three weeks back and 9.24 four week ago. It was only 3.68 percent on Thanksgiving Day.
Plainville also recorded an increase, according to the results released Thursday night.
The positivity rate was 24.28 of the 1,211 tests performed over the past two weeks. The number was 19.62 percent last week, 10.12 two weeks ago, 7.23 percent three weeks back and 8.64 four week ago. It was only 3.17 percent on Thanksgiving Day.
North Attleboro and Plainville are both still higher than the state rate of 21.52 percent. That number was 15.03 percent last week.
COVID and test kits were on the agenda when the North Attleboro board of health met Tuesday night. Director and Public Health Nurse Anne Marie Fleming was asked about the distribution of free tests for town residents in need.
