NORTH ATTLEBORO - A teenager from town was recently honored in Washington D.C. after winning a national competition.
Ritika Roy, a junior at Bishop Feehan High School, won the Congressional App challenge for the Massachusetts’ Fourth District for developing an app called “Handshake.”
The app allows the camera of a cellphone to capture and then interpret sign language to English.
It also does the reverse, by converting words typed into the phone to a photo of the appropriate sign.
Roy visited the North TV studio on Thursday to discuss her app and the competition with North TV’s Jared Ware.
