PLAINVILLE - Town officials now know the amount they will receive from Plainridge Park Casino for the month of August.
The state’s only slots parlor totaled more than $11.96 million in gross gaming revenue during the month, down from $12.49 in July.
Gross gaming revenue is the difference between the total amount bet and what gamblers take home in winnings. Plainridge is taxed 49 percent on the amount.
In addition, the town of Plainville receives 1.5 percent of the gross gaming revenue.
For August, that amounts to $179,423.49. The amount is down more than $8,000 the town received in July.
The casino also pays approximately $1.5 million a year to the town in property taxes.
Plainridge wasn’t the only casino with a decline in August. Encore Boston had gross gaming revenue of more than $58.08 million last month, down from $64.72 million in July.
MGM Springfield was the only one of the three casinos licensed by the state to see an increase. MGM brought in more than $21.99 million in August, up from $21.51 million in July.
