NORTH ATTLEBORO - The man who turned North Attleboro blue will be seeking a second term on Beacon Hill.
State Representative Adam Scanlon announced in a press release this week that he will be taking out nomination papers seeking a second term serving North Attleboro and portions of Attleboro and Mansfield.
Scanlon defeated John Simmons in 2020 after longtime Rep. Betty Poirier announced she was retiring, ending a Republican stranglehold on the seat.
The state election will be held on Nov. 1.
The freshman legislator visited the North TV studio on Thursday to discuss his candidacy.

There will be only one contested race when North Attleboro voters go to the polls on April 5 for the annual town election.
School committee incumbents John Costello and Ethan Hamilton will seek re-election against challengers David Chee and Charles Dobre for the two three-year seats up this year. Hamilton is the current committee chair. Chee is a former school committee and finance committee member and selectman.
The order their names will appear on the ballot were determined Thursday night during a special meeting of the town’s election commission.

In addition to the contested school committee race, incumbents Steven Cabral and John Gould returned papers for re-election to three-year terms on the board of electric commission.
Incumbent Paul Rofino is the only candidate for the one three-year seat on the park and recreation commission.
Incumbent Anthony Rinaldi will see re-election to the board of public works. Daniel Donovan, who was appointed to fill a vacant position last year, is also seeking a three-year term.
Plainville will have three contested races when voters cast ballots in the town election on April 4.
Select board chair Brian Kelly will be challenged by finance committee member and longtime board of library trustee Sherri Minch for the one three-year seat available.
Two candidates are running for a one-year seat on the King Philip Regional School Committee: Joseph Cronin IV and Gregory Wehmeyer.
There are three candidates seeking the two three-year positions on the Plainville school committee: Steven Albert, former fire chief and current planning board member Justin Alexander and Sarah Cronin.
Alexander is also running for a three-year-seats on the planning board and board Chair Dawn Denizkurt will be the lone candidate for the five-year seat.
Patricia Bergevin is running unopposed for a three-year seat on the board of assessors, Louis LeBlanc III has no opposition for the three-year position on the board of health.
Denise Nado is running unopposed for a three-year term on the board of library trustees.
Christopher Faille has no opponent for a three-year seat on the park commission and Maggie Clark is running unopposed for a five-year term on the redevelopment authority.
