NORTH ATTLEBORO - North TV has learned that soon-to-be former North Attleboro School Superintendent Scott Holcomb will start the new school year as the principal of Taunton High School.
Holcomb announced during a special meeting of the North Attleboro school committee on March 16 that he was retiring in August and taking a job in the private sector.
Those plans have changed and he will instead be the headmaster at Taunton high.
Before becoming superintendent in North Attleboro, he had served as the district's assistant superintendent and principal at the high school.
Holcomb’s replacement in the corner office of the Woodcock school administration building, John Antonucci, will reportedly receive a salary much higher than Holcomb had been paid.
The Sun Chronicle reported on Thursday that Antonucci’s contract with North Attleboro will start at $224,000 a year.
The newspaper added that Holcomb was paid $207,500 according to the 2020 town report and that Antonucci, unlike Holcomb, holds a doctoral degree.
