NORTH ATTLEBORO - State Representative Elizabeth Poirier may be retiring, but she is still helping area foster children.
Poirier was at town hall on Wednesday to distribute denotations received from area communities to representatives from the Department of Children and Family.
“This year in particular I think there was a tremendous rise in removal (from households) because of Covid,” Poirier told North TV.
Poirier thanked the people who donated, “If you put something out there, the public always responds."
The “Supply Sacks” program collects backpacks filled with clothing, school supplies and other basic necessities for every child entering the local jurisdiction of the Department of Children and Family Office. Poirier has spearheaded the program for several years.
