Test 3

Charette leads NA to upset win, earn POTW honors

NORTH ATTLEBORO - The North TV sports crew covered three games in four days last week.

On Tuesday (January 30) we were in the King Philip gym as the girls’ basketball team lost a heartbreaker 47-45 in the closing seconds to Mansfield.

We were in Bishop Feehan’s McIntyre Gym the next night to capture the action as the Shamrocks, the number-1 ranked team in Division 1, bashed Bishop Guertin in Central Catholic League play, 68-43.

We closed out the week at North Attleboro’s Pickering Gymnasium for the Red Rocketeers’ 51-42 upset of Taunton in girls’ basketball on senior night.

Our Player of the Week for last week played a big role in North’s win over the Tigers. Junior forward Maryellen Charette, number 24, led the way with 15 points, including five in the final quarter to seal the win and be named our North TV Player of the Week.

Maryellen will receive a DVD copy of that game and a Player of the Week t-shirt in North Attleboro red.

We’ll announce our Player of the Week for week nine of the winter sports season next week at this time.
