NORTH ATTLEBORO - North TV’s coverage of the winter sports season concluded with three games over an eight-day span.
Our sports crew was at the Pickering Gymnasium a week ago Friday night as the Oliver Ames girls' basketball team routed North Attleboro 78-33. MaryEllen Charette, number-24, put together one of her best performances of the season in the loss. The freshman forward tallied 9 points, 7 of those coming in a close first half, to be named our North TV Player of the Game.
We were back at NAHS Tuesday night for a non-conference boys' basketball matchup between North Attleboro and Randolph. North didn’t have enough firepower to keep up with the top-ranked team in Division 4 and fell by a final score of 51-27. Junior forward Jack Munley, number 44, played his typical physical game on defense absorbing three offensive charges from the Randolph players to be named our North TV Player of the Game.
The regular season concluded when the Red Rocketeers hosted rival Attleboro in boys' basketball Wednesday night. The four North Attleboro seniors were honored pre-game during senior night festivities and none shined brighter later on the court than guard Casey Poirier. The senior scored a team-high 15 points - all in the second half - to be named our North TV Player of the Game for the second time this season.
MaryEllen, Jack and Casey will each receive personalized DVDs of their game, Player of the Game t-shirts in North Attleboro Red and North TV sports bags.
