NORTH ATTLEBORO - Don't expect to receive compensation if you serve on one of the town's boards, commissions or committees.
The council narrowly defeated a request to, once again, give stipends to elected and appointed officials one week after it was rejected by members of the finance committee.
Stipends were eliminated in 2014 in order to reinstate $58,000 in the town budget for crossing guards, four years before passage of a Proposition 2.5 override in 2018.
