NORTH ATTLEBORO - Summer isn’t even half over and it’s already been one of the busiest for the town’s water and health departments.
Health officials announced Thursday afternoon the Falls and Whitings ponds are, once again, safe for swimming.
The health department announced two days earlier the two ponds were closed to due to high E. coli levels, the third time in the past month Falls Pond had to be closed due to high bacteria levels.
Boating was still allowed this week, however.
North TV spoke to Health Agent Brian McCracken Wednesday morning about E. coli and why the ponds were closed.

There’s more good news to report.
North Attleboro officials lifted the outdoor water ban put in place after a water sample taken directly from the Kelly well tested positive for E. coli.
Officials, last week, shut down the well and asked residents to dispose of water and ice taken from the tap before Thursday, the 17th.
Down one well and facing increased demands for water because of high temperatures, the town implemented the outdoor water ban to assure water pressure would remain safe.
