Council address tax request for 35 Robinson Ave.

NORTH ATTLEBORO - The potential of razing the building at 35 Robinson Ave., cleaning up the property and constructing affordable housing was on the agenda when the town council met Wednesday night at town hall.

Former councilor Darius Gregory is interested in purchasing the dilapidated building next to Dyer-Lake Funeral Home but only if the town will waive back taxes owed by the current owners.

Councilors discussed the request at length before taking a vote.

Also during Monday’s meeting, Town Manager Michael Borg told councilors more contamination, mostly lead, was found while debris was being removed from the contaminated Webster Mill site on Broadway.

The cleanup has been halted as a result with the work expected to resume in a few weeks.
