North waving late fees for federal employees

NORTH ATTLEBORO - The shutdown of the federal government is entering its second month with no end in sight.

Federal employees, who are required to work but are not receiving paychecks, will receive some relief if they reside in North Attleboro.

Town Manager Michael Borg made the announcement in mid-October that employees will not be assessed penalties or interest if they are late making payments to the town.

He discussed the steps the town is taking when he was in the North TV studio on Wednesday for a recording of his monthly Town Manager’s Report.

Click the video below to watch Borg discuss the impact of the shutdown on the town and what is being doing to help federal employees.

The interview with Michael Borg can be seen in its entirety on North TV’s Community and Government channels: Comcast channels 15 and 98 and Verizon channel 23 and 24.
