NORTH ATTLEBORO - Officials from the school department and representatives of the North Attleboro Federation of Teachers held their first mediation session Tuesday in an effort to come to terms on a new contract.
The session was held at the Woodcock School Administration Building with teachers across the district packing the halls in support of their representatives.
First sessions of mediation typically consists of the mediator meeting individually with the two sides to find out the history of the negotiations to date.
The teachers have been working without a contract since the start of the new school year.
Massachusetts state law prohibits teachers’ unions from striking.
