FRANKLIN - The first full week of 2026 was dubbed Tri-County week on North TV.
We had LIVE coverage of Tri-County girls’ basketball, wrestling and boys’ basketball all in a four-day span.
Wrestling opened the week with the Cougars hosting Bristol-Plymouth. The visiting Craftsmen recorded a number of pins on their way to a 51-30 victory.
We were back at Tri-County the next night for girls’ basketball. The game against Blue Hills was much closer, but the Cougars were edged out by 5 points, 38-33.
Our crew was back in Franklin Friday night. Bristol-Plymouth rolled to a 54-45 victory, closing out a disappointing week for Tri-County teams.
We closed out the week Saturday night at the Foxboro Sports Center where two of the four schools we cover literally faced off against each other. Forty-five minutes weren’t enough in deciding the boys' hockey game between North Attleboro and King Philip. The Warriors prevailed 2-1 in the extra session .
Our Player of the Week comes from Tuesday’s wrestling match. Ben Slobogan, a senior wrestling at 157 pounds, pinned Bristol Plymouth’s Drew Dailey at 1:28 of the second period to be named our Player of the Week.
Ben will receive a copy of that match against Bristol-Plymouth on a USB drive and a Player of the Week t-shirt in Tri-County blue.
We’ll announce our Player of the Week from this week’s games next week at this time.
