TAUNTON - Week three of the fall sports season was the busiest yet for the North TV sports crew with six games in five days.
We were inside the King Philip gymnasium Monday, September 15 for the Warriors 3-nothing volleyball shutout of Foxboro.
Macktaz Field at KP was the site of Tuesday’s boys’ soccer match against Stoughton. The Warriors were victorious in that one, as well, 2-nil.
Our crew was outside at North Attleboro’s Raymond E. Beaupre, Jr. Field for field hockey action. The host Red Rocketeers mashed Mansfield 4-1.
We were inside Bishop Feehan’s McGrath Stadium for another field hockey game on Thursday, but this time the home team lost when Dover-Sherborn handed the Shamrocks a 3-1 loss.
Taunton’s Tiger Stadium was the site of one of the two football games we covered last Friday night. North Attleboro bounced back from their September 12 loss to King Philip with a 17-14 thriller over Taunton.
Speaking of KP, the Warriors anniahlated Norwood 43-0 to improve to 3-and-0 on the season.
Our Player of the Week comes from the Red Rocketeers win over Taunton.
Senior Nick Torres, wearing number 17, kicked the PAT after North’s first touchdown to tie the game in the third quarter, booted a second point-after to give North a seven-point lead in the fourth and then nailed a 25-yarder from a tough angle with no time left to give the Rocketeers the 17-14 win.
Nick will receive a copy of the win over Taunton on a USB drive and a Player of the Week t-shirt in North Attleboro red.
