Nursing homes report death totals

NORTH ATTLEBORO - It's well known that people over the age of 60 are most vulnerable to the coronavirus. Add to that the number of seniors living in tight quarters in most nursing homes and you have the recipe for disaster.

That has certainly been the case in North Attleboro where Madonna Manor has reported 23 deaths related to COVID-19 to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.

Three other area nursing homes have also reported double digits numbers: Attleboro Health Care has had 15, Life Care Center in Attleboro - 14 and Maples Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Wrentham with 10.

The positive is that the number of deaths have decreased dramatically in recent weeks.

North Attleboro Public Health Nurse Anne Marie Fleming explained to North TV why nursing homes have been severely impacted.
