Boil water advisory issued, lifted next day

NORTH ATTLEBORO - Town officials were forced to issue a boil water advisory Monday after an independent laboratory discovered bacteria in water pulled from four wells serving the town.

The Department of Environmental Protection Agency determined the boil water advisory was necessary.

DPW Director Mark Hollowell attended Monday night’s meeting of the town council to provide the details.

The town was informed less than 24 hours later additional raw water samples collected from the same four wells tested negative and was likely the result of an error by the lab.

The second set of water samples were sent to a different laboratory for testing.

Director and Public Health Nurse Anne Marie Fleming provided the latest details to the board of health’s Tuesday night.
