Monday night’s school committee meeting was held in the emergency operations center inside the North Attleboro Police department building due to the number of people expected to thank Caldwell.
A number of parents of school-age children also attended to voice their opinions about a decision by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education to grant Commissioner Jeffrey Riley the authority to mandate all public kindergarten through 12th grade students, educators and staff to wear masks through at least October 1.
The school committee does not have the authority to override the commissioner’s mandate.
