Test 3

Congressional candidates Auchincloss & Hall on North TV

NORTH ATTLEBORO, MA – Two of the 11 candidates hoping to succeed Joseph Kennedy and represent the fourth Congressional district in November were interviewed on Thursday for North TV’s “North Attleborough This Week.”

Jake Auchincloss is one of 10 candidates running in the September 1 democratic primary. The Newton city councilor is a Harvard graduate and former Marine.

“Being a marine officer is very poor training for politics because, as a marine officer, people do what you command, it’s a very hierarchical structure, as a politician it doesn’t work like that, you have to collaborate and that’s really where I’ve made my name,” Auchincloss told North TV.

The half-hour interview with Auchincloss will premiere Friday, May 15 as part of North TV's "Inside Government" series.

There is only one republican currently seeking the seat, former Attleboro City Councilor Julie Hall. The retired Air Force colonel ran unsuccessfully for the city's state representative seat in 2018.

While North Attleboro and surrounding communities typically support conservative candidates, the north end of the district with the majority of the voters casting ballots in November lean to the left.

“I tend to be, and this is no surprise to anybody because I do have a track record if you would, tend to be a little more moderate on some of the issues, I’m very conservative when it comes to the second amendment,” Hall said.

Hall will appear on "Inside Government" before or after the September 1 primary depending on whether or not another republican enters the race.
