BOSTON - The increase in the number of reported COVID cases is soaring in the two towns served by North TV.
North Attleboro’s percent positivity increased by more than three points compared to the previous two-week period.
The number was 9.95 percent of the 1,417 tests performed over the last two weeks according to data released by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health for the two-week period ending Wednesday. That percentage equals 132 new cases.
The rate is up dramatically from last week’s reported 6.91 percent or 87 new cases, 5.32 percent two weeks ago or 69 new cases, and 5.28 three weeks back or 67 new cases.
Plainville’s rate also increased by more than three points compared to last week.
The positivity rate was 11.80 percent of the 517 tests performed over the past two weeks. That percentage equals 58 new cases. The rate is an increase of more than three percentage points for a second straight week. The town was at 8.09 percent or 33 new cases last week.
It was 4.59 two weeks ago or 21 new cases and 6.42 percent three weeks back or 35 new cases.
North Attleboro and Plainville continue to track higher than the state rate of 6.35 percent. The state’s number was 5.11 percent last week.
There’s good news for people who received a test kit distributed by health departments with an expiration date coming up quickly. The FDA has granted a three-month shelf extension for all of the iHealth COVID-19 test kits distributed in North Attleboro and other communities.
