BOSTON - The alarming rise in the number of reported COVID-19 cases across the nation is also occurring in the two towns covered by North TV, according to data released by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health on Thursday night.
The statistics were for the two-week period ending Wednesday, July 28.
The one positive is North Attleboro and Plainville are still designated as grey communities – the best of the four designated colors that are used to determine risks to residents.
North Attleboro's positivity rate doubled this week to 2.26%, up from 1.04% last week. It was at 0.23% two weeks ago.
The daily incidence rate per 100,000 residents was at 5.4, once again more than doubling the 2.1 reported last week. It was 0.5 two weeks ago.
Plainville also saw a doubling of its positivity rate to 1.88%, up from 0.72% last week and 0% two weeks ago.
The daily incidence rate per 100,000 residents in Plainville almost tripled to 4.7, compared to 1.6 last week. There were no cases two weeks ago.
North Attleboro Health Agent and Public Health Nurse Anne Marie Fleming gave members of the town's board of health an update of cases in the town and opportunities to provide more vaccines during Tuesday night's meeting.
