NORTH ATTLEBORO - One of the town's firefighters was the keynote speaker during Wednesday’s Hoops for Heart fundraiser at the middle school.
Firefighter Richard Burns went into cardiac arrest and collapsed on September 11 after responding to a call of a flooded home on Mendon Road.
Fellow firefighters started CPR and he was taken by ambulance to Sturdy Memorial Hospital and later transferred to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence.
Burns told the story at the start of Wednesday’s fundraiser.
