NORTH ATTLEBORO - “Sign, sign, everywhere a sign” is not only part of the lyrics to the 1970 song “Signs” by the Five Man Electrical Band, it also describes the state of two town businesses.
Fisher College on Elm Street in the Falls section of town posted a for sale sign last week in front of the building that once housed the Donnelly Manufacturing company and, later, a bank.
The college announced there was no longer a need for the building due to the increase in on-line learning.
Another sign is now posted on the door of the Bertucci’s Italian Restaurant in the Emerald Square Mall.
In addition to North Attleboro, the company permanently closed the restaurants in Beverly, Brockton, Canton and Marlboro.
The closings took place on the same day Bertucci’s filed for bankruptcy, the second time the company filed in the last four years.
North TV spoke to Town Manager Michael Borg about the loss of the two businesses and hinted that there has been discussion about converting part of the mall into housing.

Bertucci’s employees in North Attleboro were reportedly offered job transfers to Bertucci’s locations in Mansfield and Braintree, which will remain open.
