Five new Players of the Game named

NORTH ATTLEBORO - The North TV sports crew was busy again over the past week.

We were at the King Philip gymnasium a week ago Wednesday for the Warriors’ 30-16 loss to Milford on the wrestling mat. Hunter Hastings was one of the bright spots for KP, pinning the same opponent he had lost to earlier in the season to be named our North TV Player of the Game.

We were in Frankin last Friday for the Tri-County boys’ basketball game against Bristol-Plymouth. Unfortunately for Tri-County, the Craftsmen crushed the Cougars 73-34. Zack Blenkhorn led Tri-County with 8-points, including two three-pointers to be named our North TV Player of the Game

We were at the Foxboro Sports Center last Saturday night for girls’ hockey between Westwood and host King Philip. Sophomore forward Kelly Holmes scored two goals, including the game-winner when the Warriors were shorthanded to be named our North TV Player of the Game in the 4-3 KP win.

We were back in the KP gym Sunday afternoon for Mansfield’s 65-35 whipping of the Warriors. Tom Martorano, number-24, led KP with nine points. The junior guard was named our North TV Player of the Game.

We returned to Tri-County Wednesday night for the Cougars wrestling match with Bristol-Plymouth. The Cougars defeated the Craftsmen 39-34 in a match that went down to the final two wrestlers. North Attleboro’s John Hanson, wrestling at 160 pounds, pulled out a big win. Leading 9-3 in the third period, he pinned his opponent to pick up six points for the team. Hanson was named our North TV Player of the Game.

Hunter, Zack, Kelly, Tom and John will each receive personalized DVDs of their game, Player of the Game t-shirts in their school colors and North TV sports bag for their efforts.
