NORTH ATTLEBORO - The winter sports season is off to a rough start.
The North TV schedule has had almost as many postponements as games played.
Two games scheduled for last week were postponed with another two this week pushed back to a later date.
Four games were covered before COVID numbers exploded prior to the Christmas break.
North TV was in Franklin on December 17 for Tri-County’s 21-16 win over Old Colony in girls' basketball. Amy Freitas scored more than a third of the Cougars points. The sophomore tallied eight to be named our North TV Player of the Game.
That same night, another crew recorded King Philip’s girls’ basketball win over Taunton. Jackie Bonner, helped the Warriors to a 56-42 win. The junior guard led the way with 26 points to be named our North TV Player of the Game.
Our sports crew was back in Franklin the following Wednesday as Tri-County hosted Hull at the Pirelli Ice Hockey Arena. The visiting Pirates peppered the Cougars’ net on their way to an 8-1 rout. Lukas Sobczak scored Tri-County’s lone goal to be named our North TV Player of the Game.
That next night, our crew was in North Attleboro’s Pickering Gymnasium. The Bishop Feehan boys' basketball team overcame a slow start to run past the Red Rocketeers 48-43. Shamrocks' junior guard Dylan Capua scored 13 points to be named our North TV Player of the Game.
Amy, Jackie, Lukas and Dylan will each receive personalized DVDs of their games, Player of the Game t-shirts in their schools’ colors and North TV sports bags.
