Hurley to step down at Hockomock Y

NORTH ATTLEBORO - A local legend announced recently that he will be retiring in March.

Ed Hurley, the longtime head of the Hockomock Area YMCA made the announcement in an email to members the week before Christmas.

Hurley was hired as president of the Hockomock Y in 1993 and oversaw the expansion of branches in North Attleboro, Foxboro and Franklin.

James Down, a former branch executive and now the president and chief operating officer, will take over as chief executive officer.

Hurley sat down with North TV in his office on Wednesday and discussed the decision and his career.
