Laplante rushes to POTW honors

WRENTHAM - The North TV sports staff had a light week with only two football games last week, both Friday night in the first round of the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association playoffs.

We were at North Attleboro’s Beaupre Field for North Attleboro’s 35-7 whipping of Woburn.

The win advanced the Red Rocketeers to the quarterfinal round against Westboro.

We were also in Wrentham Friday night for King Philip’s 40-0 annihalation of Arlington.

The win set up a quarterfinal game Friday against Barnstable at Macktaz Field.

Our Player of the Week for the first week of the playoffs is King Philip’s Drew Laplante.

The senior running back, wearing number-21, racked up 244 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries.

His rushing yards accounted for more than half of KP’s 433 on the ground to earn Player of the Week honors.

Drew will receive a copy of the win over Arlington on a USB drive and a North TV Player of the Week t-shirt in King Philip gold.

We’ll announce our Player of the Week for Friday night’s quarterfinal football playoff games next week at this time.
