NORTH ATTLEBORO - Lenore’s Pantry is seeking donations to restock its shelves in anticipation of its reopening following September’s flood that temporarily closed the facility to the public.
The pantry lost most of its food supply due to water damage at town hall.
Following clean-up and remediation efforts, Lenore’s is set to reopen in the coming weeks.
However, to reopen to the public, the health department is seeking donations of non-perishable goods to be given back to those experiencing food insecurity in the community.
Lenore’s Pantry is seeking protein items such as Spam, canned chicken, solid white tuna fish in oil or water and more to restock its shelves.
Other shelf-stable items include canned chili/beef stew, canned pasta and soups, complete pancake mix and maple syrup, canned fruit, canned beans, oatmeal, and potato mixes.
Health and beauty items are also needed, including shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, soap, toothbrushes and toothpaste, feminine hygiene products, toilet paper, paper towels, and laundry detergent.
Monetary donations and gift cards to major local food retailers can also be donated. Checks should be made out to “Lenore's Pantry."
Donated goods may be dropped off at the department of health or in a bin at the town manager’s office at town hall, 43 South Washington Street.
“We lost all of our food supply in September's flooding,” said Director and Public Health Nurse Anne Marie Fleming.
“In the wake of the flood, we gave out gift cards to those utilizing Lenore’s Pantry since there were no items or space for us to hold goods. With the impending reopening of the pantry, we are looking to restock and once again fight food insecurity with the help of our generous community members.”
Lenore’s Pantry is expected to reopen to those in need by appointment only in early March.
