Test 3

Fate of new NAHS to be determined Tuesday

NORTH ATTLEBORO - Voters will head to the polls on Tuesday to decide the fate of a new high school.

Residents casting ballots in the current high school gymnasium will vote Yes or No to the following question: "Shall the Town of North Attleborough be allowed to be exempt from the provisions of proposition two and one-half, so-called, the amounts required to pay for the bonds issued to fund the construction of the North Attleborough High School Building Project."

A yes vote would allow the town to levy the additional taxes needed to repay the money it borrows to construct a new high school building.

A no vote would prevent the town from levying additional taxes to construct a new high school.

The project is expected to cost over $287 million.

The Massachusetts School Building Authority will reimburse the town an estimated $107 million.

The town would bond the balance of $180,861,098 million issued at a 4% interest rate.

Polls in the gymnasium will open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m.

North TV’s Election Night Special begins at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday night on all four of our channels and online at northtv.net.
