NORTH ATTLEBORO - The fire department received two grants recently.
The first, for $4,728.12 is part of the second round of the fiscal year Firefighter Safety Equipment Grant Program.
NAFD officials will purchase additional SEEK Thermal Imaging Cameras using funds from the program.
SEEK cameras allow firefighters to see through smoke, identify heat sources, and locate individuals, enabling them to have increased situational awareness while operating in immediately dangerous conditions
The department was previously awarded a $12,946.44 in January to purchase an initial round of thermal imaging cameras.
They also received a $7,190.83 Student Awareness of Fire Education (SAFE) program grant and a $2,596.85 Senior SAFE program grant.
